Overview

The Woodlawn Pottery Studio is a women’s' pottery co-operative.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Woodlawn Pottery Studio, please complete the Membership Application and submit it by e-mail. After we receive your application, we will invite you to an interview and ask you to bring samples or photos of your work. If we feel you would be a good fit with us but if there are no spaces available, we will put you on a waiting list so you are ready to join when a space becomes available. We have a limited membership of 18 members.

Membership fees are $600 a year paid in 2 installments (September and March) and include all studio glazes and firings in an electric kiln. Members must buy their own clay and tools. In addition members have responsibilities within the studio - doing their own bisque and glaze firings in our electric kilns, cleaning, making glaze, helping with our annual sale and attending meetings. New members are assigned a' buddy' to familiarize them with studio procedures.

Process for becoming a member
Once an application is received it is filed in order of date received and put in the file for review when existing members resign. Ideally, the studio will offer membership to the applicant(s) whose application(s) have been received the longest. However this criterion is tempered with the desire to find a balance between the time and space requirements of the applicant(s) and the time and space availability of the studio. Members of the Executive Committee or designates will make the determination on whom to interview and subsequently offer membership. Prospective members will be interviewed by a panel. Applicants need to be deemed suitable for a cooperative studio.

Privileges and obligations of membership
Membership allows use of all studio equipment and kiln firings, and participation in our annual shows and sale. Members are required to participate in all cleaning and glaze mixing activities, as scheduled.

Full information on members' rights and responsibilities will be made available at the time of joining the co-operative.  Thank you for your interest in our studio - we look forward to hearing from you.
